So are you up for the Challenge?

Welcome to our "Walk a Mile a Day Challenge" webpage. Since we started walking almost five years ago and have committed to do so on a regular basis, we're continuing this healthy lifestyle and encourage everyone else to join us and do the same. We've adopted walking regularly not so much for weight-loss but mainly for other health benefits such as reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and certain types of cancer, etc... Did you know regular physical activity, such as walking, can also make you feel better because it helps keep your bones, muscles, and joints healthy, reduces anxiety and depression, boost your mood and helps you handle stress, makes you feel more energetic, helps you sleep better, and improves your self-esteem?

Our "Walk a Mile a Day" Challenge

Since 2011 we started walking regularly in the later part of February and according to Ron's Cardio Trainer app on his smartphone, he logged in 352 workouts and walked 354 miles (just a few miles shy of 365 miles) and burned a total of 50,374 calories for the year. Last year after he surpassed 365 miles and logged in 385.2 miles and burned a total of 43,643 calories for the year.

A 20 minute walk (brisk walking at a 3.0 mph pace) basically equals one mile. You can spare 20 minutes to a half hour a day to walk, can't you? Will you?

Walking for a Cause

Since we starting walking regularly, we have come to find out that walking not only makes you feel good but walking for a great cause makes you feel even better, especially when you can help others! In the past years we have put our walking to good use by raising funds and participating in fund raising 5K events such as "Walk to End Alzheimer's", "AIDS Walk", American Cancer Society's "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" and the American Hearts Association's "Las Vegas Heart Walk & Run". Click here to get to our Team Poblete webpage for more information for supporting our team by donating towards the cause or if you are interested in joining our team.
